Description: Teradomari Market (Sakana no Ameyoko) is located in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, Japan, 940-2502 (along National Route 402 facing the Sea of Japan). This is of course Nagaoka City, and close to Sado Island and Sanjo.

According to the Tourism Association its a bustling open-air market featuring about a dozen fishmongers and souvenir shops selling fresh seafood, sashimi, crabs from Sado Island, and hamayaki (whole-grilled skewered seafood).

How to Get there, its accessible via an Echigo Kotsu bus from JR Nagaoka Station (approx. 60–75 minutes) or a roughly 30- to 35-minute drive from the Hokuriku Expressway (Nagaokakita Smart IC or Nakanoshima-Mitsuke IC).


Teradomari Teppanyaki (Flat-top Grilled)

There is teppanyaki on the grill where you order it and you pick up a number and then you listen for your number. The area will already start smelling like seafood. It is High quality: Grilled Abalone (Awabi), Grilled Scallop (Hotate), Grilled Oysters (Kaki) for cheap. In Tokyo for the same size of the large grilled seafood the quality is going to cost you about 900 yen, 300 yen more than here and not from Niigata.


Teradomari Kushiyaki (Aburi Torch-Grilled)

The Kushiyaki section has all sorts of seafoods available: Niigata Red Shrimp Shioyaki, Sazai Ark Shell, Maguro Ribs, Hokkaido Scallops, Yaki-ika Grilled Squid.











Niigata Banya-Jiru Crab Soup

Banya-Jiru is Crab Soup that uses left Over Crab Shells, Chicken Carcass, Shrimp Heads. Inside there is a Warm-soup, Shrimp, Seabream.

Shoyu Spray Bottle: You can spray shoyu on your oyster that you can get very fresh.
